Macys.com had the best consistency score in Internet Explorer and Firefox testing among large retailers tested in December, says Compuware Gomez. Last month, the retailer had the most consistent Internet Explorer site loading time with a variation of 0.55 seconds. OfficeMax.com (0.67 seconds), placed second in Internet Explorer tests. Dell.com (0.68) was third, followed by Apple.com (0.77) and OfficeDepot.com (0.83).

In last month’s Firefox consistency tests, Dell came in second behind Macy’s with an average variation of 0.61 seconds. Apple.com ranked third (0.63) and was followed by OfficeMax.com (0.66 seconds) and Overstock.com (0.98).

The average Internet Explorer consistency score among the 22 retailers measured in December was 1.14 seconds. The same group of retailers produced an average Firefox score of 1.67 seconds.

The consistency ratings take into account differences in the speed of web page delivery across multiple visits.
