Apple and J.C. Penney top December response time tests

The retailers posted the best Firefox and Internet Explorer response times.

Gomez measured web site response times among larger retailers in December.

Apple.com and JCPenney.com produced the best high broadband access times among 22 large web retailers tested in December, according to Compuware Gomez. Last month, Apple.com posted the fastest response time in Firefox tests with an average load time of 0.74 seconds. JCPenney.com finished atop last month’s Internet Explorer testing with an average of 0.80 seconds.

Dell.com finished in second place for Internet Explorer tests at 0.83 seconds, followed by Macys.com (1.09), Dell.com (1.28) and Sears.com (1.46).

In last month’s Firefox response time tests, Dell.com finished second with an average of 0.84 seconds. LLBean.com (1.08) came in third and was followed by Macys.com (1.14) and Overstock.com (1.17).

For the month of December, the average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Firefox was 1.82 seconds, the Gomez study shows. The average Internet Explorer response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.93 seconds.
