Mobile commerce is all about convenience, being able to shop and buy anywhere. That includes at the office. And that is why Office Depot Inc. has at the very top of its app home screen a bar code scanner for searching its vast array of products. Instead of having to go around the office and into the supplies closet writing notes, then going back to her desktop to type everything into Office Depot’s e-commerce site, an office manager can simply scan items with the mobile app, pop them into her mobile shopping cart and place an order in just a few touches. Office Depot also made browsing products easier, highlighting big and bold on its home screen the four most popular product categories. And enlarge image, store pick-up and customer reviews—all helpful buying tools—are prominently highlighted.
