Amazon focuses on sci-fi, fantasy and horror with latest publishing push

47North launches with 15 titles and is the seventh publishing imprint from Amazon.

Amazon.com Inc. today launched 47North, a publishing imprint that focuses on science fiction, fantasy and horror. Amazon is No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

47North is the retailer’s seventh publishing imprint. 47North launches with 15 titles, including “The Mongoliad: Book One," by Neal Stephenson and Greg Bear.

"Amazon customers have a huge appetite for science fiction, fantasy and horror books, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce readers to new and established voices in these genres," says Victoria Griffith, publisher, Amazon Publishing, West Coast Group. "We are especially happy to have a diverse list at launch, and look forward to publishing across a wide range of subgenres."

Other Amazon imprints include AmazonEncore, AmazonCrossing, Powered by Amazon, Montlake Romance, Thomas & Mercer and the New York imprint.
