Terrance Finley, hired in 1992, was promoted from chief merchandising officer.
Books-A-Million Inc. said this week it has promoted Terrance Finley to president and chief operating officer. The retail chain, No. 398 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide, hired Finley in 1992. Since June 2009 he has worked as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
“Terry has been an innovator and leader at Books-A-Million, and I am confident that he will lead our team to new heights as we take advantage of the many opportunities ahead,” says Clyde Anderson, chairman and CEO.
The retailer also promoted James Turner to executive vice president of real estate and business development. Turner was the retailer’s vice president of real estate since June 2003 and had held several positions in the finance department, including controller. Prior to joining Books-A-Million, Turner was division controller for Belk Inc., a regional retail chain and the parent company of Belk Ecommerce LLC, No. 296 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide.
“This promotion acknowledges his success and the importance of the role he is playing in helping the company pursue new business opportunities,” Anderson says.
