August 9, 2011, New York, NY – Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room, the cutting-edge, bio-robotic virtual fitting room for e-commerce apparel websites, is bringing its superior customer service to internet shoppers in the US for the first time. PARK & BOND, www.parkandbond.com, the luxury retail site for men by Gilt Groupe, is the first US-based website to incorporate Fits.me’s FitBot mannequins.

Fits.me launched in 2010 out of Estonia. The technology has already achieved success with prominent British and German retailers. With its launch with Gilt Groupe, Fits.me is now poised for expansion in the US market.

“We are thrilled to be launching in the United States,” said Heikki Haldre, CEO and co-founder of Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room. “In the United States, only 9% of the apparel market is sold online. With our breakthrough technology, this can grow to at least 30%.”

The proprietary FitBot technology uses the world’s first shape-shifting robots that can adjust to hundreds of thousands of body shapes, allowing customers to “virtually” try on garments sold online and see the fit of different sizes from different brands. Customers enter their body measurements and visually examine how different sizes of garments fit their body. Different brands size their garments differently. Fits.me will be sizing up some of the 100 brands featured on PARK & BOND, giving men the confidence that they are making a successful online purchase even without a physical fitting room, and without the need to return due to the wrong fit.

“FitBot mannequins achieve a close to perfect fit, solving the single biggest problem for online fashion retail – the lack of a fitting room,” continued Haldre. “Retailers already utilizing Fits.me technology have noticed an increase in sales and a drop in return rates.”

In fashion, the size of clothing is as important as the fit. Fits.me does not only fit the customers’ size – it fits their styles. Many people prefer to wear their clothes more fitted than suggested by size charts. Fits.me allows the customers to see how fitted or generous the garment’s cut is and make the choices they feel comfortable with.

 About Fits.Me Virtual Fitting Room

Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room was created across multiple research centers throughout Europe, including University of Tartu Institute of Technology, Estonia; Tallinn Technical University Biorobotics Laboratory, Estonia, and Human Solutions GmbH, Germany. The world’s first volumetric humanoid robots are being used to rapidly and cost effectively map the fit and the drape of any brand’s garments. As a result, the customers can see photo-quality visual information about the size and fit of different garments across brands.

It’s action that matters, not the label

Jamie Nordstrom doesn’t use the term omnichannel, but the retail chain gets the concept.
