E-commerce services firm Digital River hires a payment executive from First Data

E-commerce services provider Digital River Inc. has hired Souheil Badran as senior vice president and general manager of Digital River World Payments, the company’s payment services arm. Badran comes from payment processor First Data Corp., where he was senior vice president and general manager of e-commerce solutions.

At Digital River, which operates e-commerce sites primarily on behalf of makers of software and other digital content, Badran will oversee strategic direction for the World Payments product portfolio. World Payment services enable online retailers to manage all payment tasks, including checkout page optimization, fraud detection and reconciliation.

“Through the Digital River World Payments solution, we are now making our payment services available on a stand-alone basis for companies from any industry looking to grow their online business,” says Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO. “Souheil’s deep industry experience and leadership skills will help us further leverage this competitive advantage and accelerate the growth of our payments business.”

Prior to First Data, Badran held executive positions at VeriSign, Inc., Digital Insight Corp. and Metavante Corp., according to First Data.
