In at least its fourth acquisition since May 2010, Hat World Inc. has acquired sporting goods retailer Buckeye Corner.

Buckeye Corner operates BuckeyCorner.com, four retail locations in the Columbus, OH, area, and a catalog business. The merchant specializes in sports apparel, accessories and novelties officially licensed by Ohio State University.

Hat World, No. 382 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide, is a unit of Genesco Inc. and operates Lids Sports Group. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Buckeye Corner, serving one of the largest and most passionate fan bases in all of college athletics, is a marvelous addition to the Lids Clubhouse team, and represents the latest example of Lids Sports Group’s commitment to sports fans to be the premier specialty sports retailer in the country,” says Ken Kocher, president of Lids Sports Group.

In September, Hat World bought Anaconda Sports Inc., a sporting goods dealer that operates an e-retail site and direct mail catalog business.

Earlier last year, the retailer acquired Sports Avenue, which operates 13 e-commerce sites and 46 stores, and Brand Athletics Inc., a team apparel and equipment dealer, custom screen printer and embroidery operator.
