The RapidPick System is made up of modular mechanized components: replenishment stations, pick stations, racking, and the inventory staging buffer module.
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, JUNE 9, 2011 – Dematic, supplier of logistics systems for the factory, warehouse, and distribution center, today launches The RapidPick System, a new solution for high performance split case order fulfillment. The RapidPick System uses the goods to person design; it is engineered to deliver split case items to an operator in a configuration that allows pick rates of up to 1,000 line items per operator, per hour. It allows high pick accuracy because only one SKU is presented to the operator at a time, in the desired sequence. It’s ergonomic since the operator stays in one place and only picks in the “golden zone.” The RapidPick System is made up of modular mechanized components: replenishment stations, pick stations, racking, and the inventory staging buffer module.
The software manages the SKU inventory, replenishment, and directs the order fulfillment process including monitoring the staff. The RapidPick System is compact and typically uses a 30 to 65 percent smaller footprint than other systems. The high density cube utilization is achieved using an inventory staging buffer module called the Dematic MultishuttleTM. The Multishuttle is made up of carriers that travel in a modular rack structure, typically with one carrier on each level, accessing the inventory on both sides, single or double deep. The RapidPick System offers operational flexibility. For example, it accommodates a range of carton and tote sizes; this omits the need to put every load on a tray.
According to Ken Ruehrdanz, Distribution Market Manager for Dematic, “The RapidPick System is engineered as a modular and scalable solution. For example, if order volume increases, it can be expanded by adding more pick station modules, Multishuttle carriers, and racking.” For more information regarding the RapidPick solution, visit www.dematic.us/rapidpick or contact Cheryl Falk at 262-860-6715 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
