Newegg and Apple post fastest February response times

Newegg and Apple finished with the best response times in Internet Explorer and Firefox testing.

Newegg.com and Apple.com produced the fastest high broadband access times among 24 large web retailers tested in February, according to Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. Last month, Newegg.com generated the best Internet Explorer response time with an average load time of 0.76 seconds. Apple.com led last month’s Firefox testing with an average of 0.68 seconds.

Overstock.com finished with the second-best Internet Explorer response time with 0.82 seconds, followed by Apple.com (0.95), Dell.com (1.03) and OfficeDepot.com (1.06).

Overstock.com also had the second-fastest Firefox response time with an average of 0.80 seconds. Dell.com (0.85 seconds), Walmart.com (0.86), and OfficeDepot.com (0.92) rounded out the top five.

In February, the average large retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 1.77 seconds, the Gomez study shows. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.68 seconds.
