Digital marketing agency PointRoll has a new CEO. Robert Gatto previously was the company’s senior vice president of sales. He replaces former CEO Jason Tafler, whom the Pennsylvania-based company said resigned so he could be closer to his family in Canada.

Gatto will also lead ShopLocal LLC, a division of PointRoll that hosts online versions of newspaper circulars for multichannel retailers. PointRoll is owned by Gannett Co., a newspaper chain.

Among Gatto’s tasks is to improve PointRoll’s interactive rich media offerings, the company says. During his job as a sales executive, he helped the company achieve double-digit revenue growth in 2010.

"PointRoll is in a very strong position, coming off of its most successful year ever with an even stronger 2011 predicted," Gatto says. "We're uniquely qualified to deliver the next generation of display ad technology, delivery and engagement. Jason has done an amazing job getting PointRoll to this position, and he will be missed."

Sarah Ripmaster will take over Gatto’s previous job. She was PointRoll’s vice president of major accounts.
