Gilt names a chief product officer

Gilt Groupe, Inc. has appointed Stefan Pepe as chief product officer of the invitation-only online retailer. He will oversee product strategy, mobile applications and user experience. He reports to CEO Kevin Ryan. Pepe’s job is a new position.

"Stefan's understanding of Gilt's business coupled with his deep knowledge of e-commerce will enable Gilt to deliver the best customer experience to our members,” Ryan says. Gilt is No. 140 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Gilt hired Pepe in 2009 as general manager of the retailer’s home and children's businesses. Pepe had worked for a decade at Amazon.com, including as director of North American books and magazines.

Gilt has announced numerous hires within the past month as it expands its domestic and international offerings.
