Newegg and Apple posted the fastest December response times

Apple and Newegg had the fastest response times for large retailers in December, says Gomez.

Apple.com and Newegg.com produced the fastest high broadband access times among 25 large web retailers tested last month, according to Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. In December, Newegg.com generated the response time of 0.93 seconds in Internet Explorer testing. Apple.com led last month’s Firefox testing with an average access time of 0.83 seconds.

Apple.com had the second best Internet Explorer response time with 0.95 seconds, followed by Overstock.com (1.00 seconds), CDW.com (1.10) and Dell.com (1.11 seconds).

LLBean.com had the second fastest Firefox response time with an average of 0.84 seconds. Dell.com (0.95), Overstock.com (0.98) and QVC.com (1.01) rounded out the top 5.

In December, the average top retailer’s high broadband response time for a shopper using Internet Explorer was 1.83 seconds, Gomez reports. The average Firefox response time among the same group of retailers last month was 1.75 seconds.
