Gilt Groupe appoints a CEO for its Japanese operations

Gilt Groupe Inc. has named Peter Glusker as CEO of Gilt Group Japan and Gilt City Japan. The e-commerce operator, which focuses on 36-hour apparel sales for consumers who become Gilt members, also launched Gilt City Tokyo this week.

Glusker joined the flash-sale retailer in 2009 and was overseeing business development and international operations for the company. “I’ve been deeply involved with Gilt Groupe Japan’s business over the past two years,” he says. “I’m thrilled to be able to dedicate all my efforts to leading the growth of the company in Japan.”

Prior to Gilt, Glusker was CEO of Latina Media Ventures LLC, a lifestyle and fashion site that caters to Hispanic women. He also worked as senior vice president of Viacom Digital Media Group and CBS Internet Group.

Gilt Groupe, No. 140 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, says it has 500,000 members and has sold products from more than 300 brands.
