Dell.com ranked first in high broadband availability tests among large retailers for October, says Gomez, the web performance division of Compuware Corp. Last month, online shoppers using either Internet Explorer or Firefox could access the computer and electronics retailer’s site 99.99% of the time.

The average Internet Explorer availability for the top 23 retailers in October was 99.59%, Gomez says. The average availability for Firefox testing last month was 99.19%.

Six other retailers’ web sites (Apple.com, CDW.com, LLBean.com, OfficeDepot.com, Staples.com and Target.com) also tested at 99.99% availability for Internet Explorer.
