Private sale site Rue La La has a new president and also a new chief merchandising officer.

Steve Davis takes over as president and Ira Melnitsky becomes chief merchandising officer. Both report to Ben Fischman, founder and CEO of Rue La La, which is owned by GSI Commerce Inc.

Davis, who will oversee Rue La La’s day-to-day operations, comes from GSI, where he had a variety of jobs since 2000, including executive vice president, international. He also helped create TrueAction, GSI’s full service interactive agency.

Melnitsky worked as executive vice president, North America, for Tumi Inc., an online and bricks-and-mortar retailer of suitcases and related gear.

"We've selected leaders who bring extensive e-commerce and merchandising knowledge that will bolster the efforts of the organization,” says Fischman. "Steve's extensive experience in driving operational excellence in e-commerce businesses combined with Ira's background in the luxury wholesale market will further propel Rue La La as a leader in this exciting marketplace."

Rue La La is No. 103 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
