Same-seller sales increased 37% for Mercent Corp.’s online retailer clients in the third quarter compared to the previous year, the interactive marketing services provider said today. Sales in the second quarter had increased 45%.

The third quarter was the sixth consecutive quarter of growth for Mercent retailers.

Mercent helps retailers sell through such online marketplaces as Amazon.com and eBay.com, along with Google Product Search and other shopping portals, and comparison shopping engines.

Sales through Google Product Search increased 102% year over year in the third quarter. Same-seller sales for merchants on Amazon.com Inc. increased 42% in the third quarter compared with last year, Mercent says. Amazon is No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Mercent credited a healthy back-to-school shopping season and a recovering economy for some of the sales increases. “Online commerce remains a consequential growth opportunity for retailers competing in an improving but still challenging sales environment,” says Eric Best, Mercent’s CEO.
