Former FTD.com executive joins Myxer as chief marketer
Mike Carson will help Myxer sell ring tones, video games and other media.
Mike Carson has joined Myxer Inc. as the mobile technology company’s chief marketing officer. Carson was vice president of marketing at florist FTD.com, No. 59 on Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide.
Myxer sells ring tones, MP3s, video games and other media that work on mobile phones independently of the consumer’s mobile carrier. The firm also develops mobile storefronts for e-retailers. The venture-backed firm launched in 2005.
Myxer CEO Myk Willis says the company will tap Carson’s expertise in branding and e-commerce as it builds its brand. At FTD.com, Carson was responsible for direct marketing, brand positioning and social media efforts. Prior to FTD.com, Carson worked at agencies Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett on accounts including Orbitz.com, Allstate Insurance and General Motors.
Carson says it’s exciting to join a company in a high-growth market. “With the foundation of being a top 10 U.S. mobile web site with very strong relationships with world-class brands, Myxer is positioned for sizeable growth,” he says.
