AutoZone web sales rev slightly higher for fiscal 2010

For the year, web sales and total sales increased 2.8% and 8.1%, respectively.

Web sales edged slightly higher in the fourth quarter and in fiscal 2010 for AutoZone Inc.

 For the 2010 fiscal year ended Aug. 28, AutoZone, No. 109 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, recorded:

  • An increase in web sales of 2.8% to $148.9 million from $144.9 million in fiscal 2009.
  • Total sales increased year over year 8.1% to $7.21 billion from $6.67 billion.
  • Comparable-store sales for the year weren’t disclosed.
  • Net income grew 12.4% to $738.3 million from $657 million.

Internet Retailer calculates the web accounted for 2% of sales, down from 2.1% in fiscal 2009.

For the fourth quarter:

  • E-commerce sales grew by about 4.2% to $47.7 million from $45.8 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009.
  • Total sales increased year over year 9.4% to $2.44 billion from $2.23 billion.
  • Comparable-store sales increased 6.7%.
  • Net income grew 13.9% to $268.9 million from $236.1 million.

Internet Retailer calculates the web accounted for 2% of sales, down from 2.1% in fiscal 2009.

“Our performance during the fourth quarter represents a strong conclusion to a very good year for AutoZone,” says CEO Bill Rhodes.
