Online marketing services firm AudienceScience today said it plans to acquire Hamburg, Germany-based rival wunderloop. Terms were not disclosed.

Wunderloop would bring to AudienceScience a base in Europe, where wunderloop’s clients include AOL, eBay Motors, Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telekom and publisher Conde Nast.

“AudienceScience is on a steady path of global expansion,” says Jeff Hirsch, the company’s CEO. “We are excited about the prospect of enhancing The Audience Gateway platform and strengthening our European presence with wunderloop’s exceptional team and technology.” AudienceScience adds wunderloop will retain its own name as a wholly owned subsidiary.

New York-based AudienceScience’s existing client base includes American Airlines, Skechers, New York Times Digital and Wall Street Journal Digital.

Wunderloop CEO Torsten Ahlers adds that the acquisition would open the U.S. market to wunderloop’s marketing technology. “At one stroke, we now have the opportunity to export wunderloop’s successful technology to the U.S. and other markets while also enhancing our range here in Europe with AudienceScience’s great products.”

In addition to Hamburg, wunderloop maintains several other offices in Europe, including locations in France and Netherlands. Wunderloop was the first company in Germany to qualify for the European Union’s EuroPrise seal for consumer privacy protection, according to AudienceScience.
