Overstock.com Inc. today launched the Main Street Store, a new microsite that features more than 2,500 products from small and minority-owned businesses.

"The Main Street Store creates a national marketing and distribution channel for small businesses by providing them a way to sell their products easily and inexpensively,” says CEO Patrick Byrne. “It is also a place where consumers can contribute to the national recovery by buying products made by entrepreneurs throughout the U.S. It's the new way to shop local."

To access the store, shoppers have to click on the See More category at the top navigation bar on Overstock.com. Once inside the Main Street Store they can search by categories such as furniture, jewelry and gourmet food.

Overstock, No. 28 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, says it hopes to attract more small merchants to its Main Street Store. “Because we have just launched the store it currently carries a couple thousand products, but it will grow steadily as more small businesses join our ranks," says Byrne.
