Multichannel retailer Restoration Hardware Inc. has named Guess? Inc. president, chief operating officer and director Carlos Alberini co-CEO and a director of the company.

Alberini will share CEO duties with Restoration Hardware current CEO Gary Friedman. Alberini will manage the company's operations, finance, supply chain, inventory, information technology, stores and human resources divisions. Friedman will oversee the company's creative, merchandising, and marketing teams.

Prior to Guess?, Alberini worked as senior vice president and chief financial officer for discount footwear retailer Footstar Inc. and vice president of finance and acting chief financial officer for Melville Corp., which changed its name to CVS Corp. in 1996.

“I am thrilled to have Carlos as my partner,” says Friedman. “These are exciting times for Restoration Hardware, and this appointment reflects the strong performance we are experiencing as well as the significant growth potential we see before us. Carlos' personal values, leadership skills, and experience building a world class multi-concept, multichannel, and multibillion dollar global business will be invaluable as we continue our pursuit of becoming the most admired home lifestyle brand in the world."

Restoration Hardware is No. 104, in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Alberini, who had worked at Guess? since 2000, will continue to serve on the company’s board. “During his tenure with us, Carlos has made significant contributions to the growth and success of our company,” says Paul Marciano, CEO and vice chairman of Guess?, No. 262 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “He is an integrated part of our family and that's why we asked Carlos to continue as a Guess? board member.”

Guess? says it will commence a search to fill two positions—chief operating officer and president of the Americas—to replace Alberini.
