Apparel retailers are still posting the best site response time

Apparel and accessories merchants continue to deliver the best response time to shoppers with a high broadband connection—for the 10th consecutive month, says Gomez, a division of Compuware.

Apparel and accessories merchants delivered the best response time to shoppers with a high broadband connection in February-for the 10th consecutive month, says Gomez, a division of Compuware Corp.

Shoppers with a high broadband connection in February could visit apparel retailers’ web sites in an average time of 11.40 seconds, Gomez says, compared with mass merchants at 12.08 seconds, computers and electronics retailers at 12.13 seconds, and specialty merchants at 12.59 seconds.

When a site is accessed by a low broadband connection, computers and electronics retailers provided the fastest average access, at 32.44 seconds, Gomez says. Computers and electronics retailers also turned in the best dial-up average access time at 61.51 seconds.

All data for this report is collected by the Gomez Last Mile network, 30 times an hour from Dial Up, Low and High Broadband users across the United States, 24 hours a day except between 3AM and 6AM Eastern. Response Time is the average of each test measurement to download the web site content divided by the total number of tests.
