IRCE adds high-tech navigation assistance

Internet Retailer conference management is pleased to announce that it has selected You Are Here software to power eight large touch screens throughout the conference to help attendees navigate 91 sessions, 175 speakers, and nearly 400 exhibitors.

The Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition, June 8-11 in Chicago, features 91 sessions, 175 speakers, nearly 400 exhibitors occupying 550 10x10 booths and a 170,000-square-foot exhibit hall. Finding the right session, technology or service-or even finding your way around-can be daunting. That’s why Internet Retailer conference management is pleased to announce that it has selected You Are Here software from MarketArt Inc. to power eight large touch screens throughout the conference.

In the Exhibit Hall, the software will provide attendees with a series of selections to help narrow down the number of exhibitors who can help solve the problem they face. It will also help attendees map a path through the Exhibit Hall. Attendees will be able to search for vendors by company name or category of technology and print a customized floor map right from the kiosk.

The screens will also provide details of sessions and locations, events such as the receptions in the Exhibit Hall, seated luncheons and the Wednesday night networking dinner party, and taxi/bus pick up areas.

The screens will be positioned throughout McCormick Place West in the general session area, breakout sessions areas, one at each entrance to the Exhibit Hall and four within the Exhibit Hall.

“We’re expanding our capabilities to help attendees navigate the Exhibit Hall and the entire conference,” says Steve Rogers, IRCE director of exhibitions. “This is the latest development in our continuous improvement of the IRCE experience. Starting in 2007, we issued printed floor plans with categories. We added the Help Desk in 2008 in the registration area, and last year we moved it onto the Exhibit Hall floor with a texting option for assistance. This takes on-site attendee assistance to the next level.”
