Volusion, a provider of online shopping cart software and services, has launched Fraud Score, a new feature in its shopping cart platform designed to help merchants detect fraudulent orders before they process the payments.

Fraud Score identifies shopping traits, patterns and trends associated with fraudulent behavior, helping merchants to assess payment transaction risk and reduce their number of chargebacks, Volusion says. It adds that Fraud Score checks more than 15 fields of data, including history, address, geographical IP address, e-mail addresses and bank identification numbers to assign a numeral risk score to each transaction.

Volusion displays the risk scores or an order detail page.
