Newegg hatches an iPhone app, expanding its mobile channel
Newegg Mobile gives shoppers the complete Newegg.com experience, the computer and electronics e-retailer says, including comprehensive product specifications and images, plus streamlined ways to search for and purchase any product the company sells.

Newegg Inc. is going for the mobile commerce trifecta with the launch of a new mobile app for the iPhone. The app follows the e-retailer’s m-commerce site, m.Newegg.com, and text message program.
The free app, dubbed Newegg Mobile, gives shoppers the complete Newegg.com experience, the computer and electronics e-retailer says, including comprehensive product specifications and images, plus streamlined ways to search for and purchase any product from the merchant’s entire inventory. All purchases made via the app, built in-house, are routed through Newegg’s secure servers.
Shoppers will be able to make use of Newegg.com discounts and bargains such as Shell Shocker specials and Daily Deals. And the Newegg Mobile app gives shoppers access to 1.5 million customer product reviews. This is an important feature, experts say, because two of the primary uses of the mobile channel are research and comparison shopping.
“With Newegg Mobile, busy shoppers can now browse and make purchases anywhere and anytime,” says Bernard Luthi, vice president of marketing, merchandising and web management. “Best of all, the app provides our customers with access to all of Newegg.com’s key features and the quality online shopping experience they have come to expect.”
