Social shopping site ThisNext acquired its smaller rival Stylehive. It also launched a new corporate brand, Curatemedia, that will operate the two sites. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company also closed a $1.2 million Series C funding round, which it will use to expand Curatemedia into new product categories. Clearstone Venture Partners, Anthem Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners led the third funding round.

"These announcements strengthen the company`s leadership position in social shopping and are the first steps toward developing a network of vertically focused social shopping sites," says Scott Morrow, Curatemedia CEO.

Among the vertical product categories ThisNext aims to add to its portfolio are parenting and children; sports and outdoors; environmentally friendly; and men’s fashion, says Tyson Woeste, head of product. “However, just as the Stylehive acquisition was a quick way to move into the female fashion vertical, we’ll look broadly at other categories as well,” he says.

ThisNext says it attracted 3.2 million unique visitors in December.
