Avon posts a 78% year-over-year traffic increase in December

Avon attracted 7.74 million visitors in December, a 78% increase from December 2008, as it posted the biggest traffic jump among apparel and beauty product retailers during the month, Nielsen Online reports.

Old Navy was the most-visited web destination in terms of visitors for apparel and beauty products in December, Nielsen Online reports. The apparel retailer items attracted 8.33 million unique visitors, a 40% rise from 5.95 million a year earlier.

The top 10 online apparel and beauty shopping destinations in December with unique visitors in millions this year compared with a year earlier and the percent change, according to Nielsen Online, were:

  • Old Navy, 8.33, 5.95, 40%
  • Avon, 7.74, 4.34, 78%
  • The Gap, 6.20, 4.66, 33%
  • Zappos.com, 6.10, 6.97, -12%
  • Victoria’s Secret, 5.90, 6.74, -12%
  • eBay Clothing Shoes & Accessories, 5.65, 7.70, -27%
  • Lands End, 4.20, 6.22, -32%
  • L.L. Bean, 3.91, 6.17, -37%
  • Bath & Body Works, 3.78, 4.43, -15%
  • Sephora, 3.63, 2.84, 28%

Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited during the month. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top e-commerce sites in this category based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer. Additionally, Nielsen has recently expanded its panels of Internet users and, effective with June 2009 data, this may affect the percentage change from previous results for some sites.
