Gamestop sees a big jump in traffic, Nielsen Online reports

Gamestop.com`s traffic increased 45% jump in November, but Best Buy remained the top site among computer and consumer electronics retailers.

Gamestop.com saw a 45% jump in year-over-year traffic for November, attracting 7 million unique visitors, Nielsen Online reports. However, Best Buy remained the most visited site among computer and consumer electronics retail destinations with 24.17 million visitors.

Meanwhile, there were 77% fewer unique visitors to the relaunched CircuitCity.com web site than there were a year earlier to the site of Circuit City Stores Inc., which went bankrupt this year. CircuitCity.com is now owned by Systemax, owner of such e-retail sites as TigerDirect.com and CompUSA.com.

The top 10 multi-category computers and consumer electronics retail destinations in November with unique visitors in millions this year and last and growth from prior year, according to Nielsen Online, were:

  • Best Buy, 24.17, 22.14, 9%
  • gamestop.com, 7.00, 4.82, 45%
  • eBay Electronics, 5.60, 8.01, -30%
  • Newegg.com, 5.11, 5.05, 1%
  • TigerDirect.com, 4.92, 4.83, 2%
  • CircuitCity.com, 3.84, 16.61, -77%
  • OSTG, 3.59, 5.21, -31%
  • Optimum Store Online, 3.24, 3.19, 2%
  • Sony Electronics, 2.77, 2.22, 25%
  • eBay Computers, 2.50, 3.32, -25%
  • Sony, 1.60, 2.04, -22%

Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top online shopping destinations based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer.

By length of visit, the top 10 online hardware manufacturer shopping destinations in November (hours, minutes:seconds), according to Nielsen Online, were:
