SEATTLE, Dec. 15-- Samsonite, the worldwide leader in travel solutions, announces the launch of a new online branded presence and eCommerce experience. With the support of Amazon WebStore and Ascentium, Samsonite.com will offer a truly integrated brand and marketing experience for consumers, launched mid-November, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Samsonite`s desire to enrich its online brand experience and effectively promote its unique assortment of innovative, high quality, consumer-preferred travel solutions drove the underlying parameters of the project. Working with Amazon WebStore enables Samsonite to improve their back-end eCommerce processes and enhance the branded shopping experience.
As an Amazon WebStore solutions provider, Ascentium was chosen to drive account management, lead the creative development process, and accurately project the essence of the Samsonite brand onto the Web. "Ascentium has become an extension of our organization. They have embraced this project as their own, rather than managing it like just another project for a client," stated Mike Zucker, Vice President, Merchandising/Marketing for Samsonite.
Samsonite.com has been redesigned with the consumer in mind, offering a modern and flexible format that is easier to navigate, featuring larger product images, more space for important product features, and more complex filters for consumers to narrow their search. Additionally, the eCommerce sites for all three Samsonite brands have been consolidated into Samsonite.com, so that consumers can shop Samsonite, Black Label and American Tourister together for one combined check out experience. Special interactive features are expected in 2010, including the addition of consumer product reviews.
All parties are confident that the new site will provide yet another venue for the Samsonite brand to maintain its best-in-class status while promoting a seamless online shopping experience that utilizes Amazon`s expertise as an undisputed leader in the eCommerce space. Samsonite expects to see a significant decrease in its IT and Fulfillment workload and is projecting a healthy increase in sales during the first fiscal year after the site is launched. "We are excited to help Samsonite integrate Amazon`s technology and services for their new site and we look forward to their ongoing success," said Charles Moore, Vice President, Amazon eCommerce Products.
Ultimately, the goal is that this new online experience will have a halo effect across all channels. Samsonite is committed to expanding their branded presence by delivering a superior consumer experience across all touch-points, and the revived Samsonite.com is a tremendous step in that direction. As Lynne Berard, Vice President, Sales/Marketing of Samsonite stated, "We are very proud to launch the new Samsonite.com. The site offers an ease of usability, accurately promotes our brand promise, and offers users a seamless shopping experience. We are confident that consumers will enjoy shopping the site."
