Derek Chew, former director of search engine optimization for comparison shopping engine PriceGrabber, has accepted a job to develop search engine optimization strategy for comparison shopping site Extrabux.com.

Chew will develop and execute an SEO plan to increase search engine traffic to the Extrabux web site, the company says. His first task will be to improve the comparison shopping site’s architecture to make it easier for search engines to crawl and index.

At PriceGrabber, Chew collaborated with teams across departments to improve organic traffic. Chew also has worked at Yahoo Inc., where he drove traffic acquisition and developed optimization guidelines for Yahoo’s news and information properties, including its news, finance and health portals.

“We were very fortunate to find Derek when we did,” says Extrabux CEO Bob Nascenzi. “We just launched our new site and Derek will be instrumental in helping us optimize our web pages for organic search.”

Earlier in his career, Chew worked on various SEO projects at Organic, a digital marketing and web site design company, and Diamond Bullet Design, now owned by Foraker, a web-based software, content management and community applications vendor that serves online retailers. He also founded and operated his own SEO consulting company, SEODrive.

“I am really excited to join the Extrabux team,” Chew says. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a blank canvas to design and implement a web page architecture that will drive significant traffic organically.”

Extrabux.com is a comparison shopping engine that integrates discounts from coupons and cashback programs.
