Apparel retailers sewed up the best response time in August

Apparel and accessories merchants continued their run, delivering the best response time to shoppers with a high broadband connection for the fourth consecutive month, says Gomez.

Apparel and accessories merchants continued their run, delivering the best response time to shoppers with a high broadband connection for the fourth consecutive month, says Gomez.

Shoppers with a high broadband connection in August could visit an apparel retail web site in an average time of 7.11 seconds, Gomez Inc. says, compared with mass merchants at 7.69 seconds, computers and electronics retailers at 7.89 seconds and specialty merchants at 9.19 seconds.

When a site is accessed by a low broadband connection, mass merchants provided the fastest average access at 25.04 seconds, Gomez says. The next fastest web retailing category for low broadband response time was computers and electronics at 26.30 seconds, followed by apparel and accessories retailers at 26.58 seconds.

Apparel retailers also delivered the fastest average access time for dial-up connections at 94.60 seconds.

All data for this report is collected by the Gomez Last Mile network, 30 times an hourfrom Dial Up, Low and High Broadband users across the United States, 24 hours a day except between 3AM to 6AM EST. Response Time is the average of each test measurement to download the web site content divided by the total number of tests.
