SimplyInk pens a 100% rise in traffic, Nielsen Online says

While Apple remained the traffic leader for hardware manufacturer retail destinations, SimplyInk stamped out the largest increase in unique visitors last month with a more than 100% year-over-year rise, Nielsen Online reports. Despite August being the prime time for back-to-school sales, which often can include new computers, many hardware manufacturers reported traffic drops in August.

The top 10 hardware manufacturer retail destinations in August with unique visitors in millions this year and last and growth from prior year, according to Nielsen Online, were:

Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top online shopping destinations based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer.

By length of visit, the top seven online hardware manufacturer shopping destinations in August (hours, minutes:seconds), according to Nielsen Online, were:

  • Arrow.com, 4:48:42
  • Apple Inc., 1:18:43
  • Zendoo, 0:57:13
  • Lexmark, 0:44:24
  • IBM, 0:31:39
  • SilkScreeningSupplies.com, 0:31:09
  • Findmespot.com, 0:24:28

The top 10 retail goods and services segments in terms of online ad impressions (in millions) in July, according to Nielsen data, were:

  • Home Improvement, 4,245.05
  • Books, Movies and Music, 3,651.59
  • Auctions, 2,417.21
  • Misc. Services, 1,865.67
  • Apparel & Jewelry, 1, 347.47
  • Personal Care, 1,283.05
