Home Depot cultivates its home and garden customers

The Home Depot led the way in traffic to home and garden sites in July, attracting 14% more visitors than it did a year earlier, according to Nielsen NetView. Home Shopping Network registered the biggest gain in traffic at 146%.

The Home Depot led the way in traffic to home and garden sites in July, attracting 14% more visitors than it did a year earlier, according to the Nielsen NetView web traffic measurement service. Home Shopping Network registered the biggest gain in traffic at 146%.

The top online home and garden shopping destinations in July with unique visitors in millions this year compared with a year earlier and the percent change, according to Nielsen NetView, were:

  • The Home Depot, 15.37, 13.45, 14%
  • Lowe’s, 11.58, 11.59, 0%
  • Home Shopping Network, 9.70, 3.94, 146%
  • Windshieldwonder.com, 5.39, NA, NA
  • eBay Home, 3.91, 11.01, -64%
  • Ikea, 2.87, 2.35, 22%
  • ecoCanteen, 2.42, NA, NA
  • Pottery Barn, 1.85, 1.90, -2%
  • JoAnn.com, 1.48, 2.00, -26%

Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top e-commerce sites in this category based on data from Nielsen NetView, a service of The Nielsen Co. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer. Nielsen has expanded its panels of Internet users and, effective with June 2009 data, this may affect the percentage change from previous results for some sites.
