Staples tags president Mike Miles to head multichannel international unit

Mike Miles, president and chief operating officer of Staples Inc., will assume responsibility for the retailer’s multichannel international business starting next month, Staples says.

Mike Miles, president and chief operating officer of Staples Inc., will assume responsibility for the retailer’s multichannel international business starting next month, Staples says.

Miles replaces Peter Ventress, who is leaving Staples to join a U.K.-based company, Staples says.

Miles joined Staples in 2003 as chief operating officer and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in 2006.

As president and chief operating officer, Miles has driven growth across the company`s North American business units, entering new retail markets, acquiring new business delivery customers of all sizes and expanding product and service offerings beyond office supplies, the retailer says.

“As we move ahead, Mike brings his tremendous leadership skills to his new responsibilities,” says Ron Sargent, chairman and CEO. “He will drive our growth throughout Europe and in high-growth markets as Staples works to become the world`s best office products company."

Staples, No. 2 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, serves customers in 27 countries in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
