BuySeasons expects to continue growth with Celebrate Express

Since absorbing party suppliers retailer Celebrate Express last year, Liberty Media Corp.’s BuySeasons Inc., a retailer of costumes and related products, expects to continue growing both retail brands online and in catalogs, BuySeasons president Jalem Getz says.

“We’re continuing to look for opportunities to grow Celebrate Express, which already sends out about 10 to 15 million catalogs a year,” Getz says. “We send out a Celebrate Express catalog in some form at least once a month and we’ll continue to expand on that, and we’ll use our experience at BuyCostumes.com to grow the Celebrate Express web business.” The party supplies retailer also operates online at CelebrateExpress.com.

BuySeasons, based outside of Milwaukee in New Berlin, WI, retails costumes and other products through BuyCostumes.com and also wholesales those product lines to several major retailers. Going forward, it will build on the synergies between selling party supplies mostly to parents of young children through Celebrate Express and, through BuyCostumes.com, selling Halloween and other types of costumes to parents as well as to young adults, Getz says.

He adds that young adults in their twenties, who frequently wear costumes to seasonal parties, are the strongest source of growth for BuyCostumes.com. “The primary driver of costume sales now is the 18-to-24-year-old market,” Getz says. “The 20-somethings also have a natural affinity to shop online. And we’re continuing to grow year over year.” As they get older and become parents, BuySeasons expects to keep them as customers, he adds.

Liberty Media is No. 163 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
