BT Fresca, a U.K.-based e-commerce platform provider owned by British Telecommunications Plc, this week announced that it signed new e-commerce contracts with seven U.K. chain retailers in the second half of last year.

BT Fresca, a U.K.-based e-commerce platform provider owned by British Telecommunications Plc, this week announced that it signed new e-commerce contracts with seven U.K. chain retailers in the second half of last year. They are: Liberty Retail Plc, The Perfume Shop Ltd., Matalan Retail Ltd., Matches Fashion, T J Hughes Ltd., brand manufacturer and retailer Kew 159 Ltd. and Savoir Faire.com.

BT Fresca has also landed contracts to upgrade e-commerce web sites for The Shoe Studio Group, Oasis Stores and Warehouse stores. Fresca reports it has experienced 60% growth in annual revenue since it was acquired by BT in January 2008.

The London-based trade association Interactive Media in Retail Group reported that web sales in the U.K. grew 19% in January over a year earlier, building on the growth of 15% in growth of online retail sales in the second half of 2008.

“Sales at BT Fresca have defied the current economic downturn as retailers continue to sign up for our services to help them reach new customers and take market share from their competition,” Sarah Hughes, BT Fresca’s managing director, says.
