Circuit City loses traffic power, while Newegg scrambles up in rankings

Other winners were TigerDirect with a 28% increase and Frys.com with a 38% uptick. Losers included eBay sites eBay Electronics and eBay Computers, falling by 30% and 38%, respectively.

The top 10 multi-category computers and electronics shopping destinations in January with unique visitors in millions this year and last and growth from prior year, according to Nielsen Online were:

  • Best Buy, 17.42, 16.20, 8%
  • Circuit City, 10.90, 14.61, -25%
  • eBay Electronics, 6.85, 9.82,-30%
  • OSTG, 6.33, 5.36, 18%
  • TigerDirect.com, 4.88, 3.81, 28%
  • Newegg.com, 4.87, 3.21, 51%
  • eBay Computers, 3.72, 6.02, -38%
  • Gamestop.com, 3.29, 3.09, 6%
  • Windows Marketplace, 2.77, 3.27, -15%
  • Sony, 2.51, 2.37, 6%


Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top online shopping destinations based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer.
