GiftCertificates.com goes mobile with iPhone app

The e-retailer launched a mobile application that enables customers to purchase and personalize gift cards on Apple smartphones and locate retail stores via GPS technology.

GiftCertificates.com has entered the mobile commerce realm. The e-retailer of gift cards targeted at the consumer and corporate markets has launched an iPhone application that enables users to browse, select, personalize and buy gift cards without having to access a web site.

The GiftCards application, developed for GiftCertificates.com by Trillusion Media Inc., is available for download at GiftCardsApp.com or in Apple’s App Store in iTunes. Downloadable mobile applications, which are linked to the Internet, have an edge over mobile web sites in performance and experience because they reside on a smartphone and can make use of the phone’s computing power. Further, they are displayed on a smartphone’s desktop, heightening brand awareness.

"GiftCertificates.com is all about delivering superior value and service to our customers, especially during the holiday season," says CEO Gary Krow. "By making it easier for our customers to access the GiftCertificates.com marketplace, the GiftCards application enhances our customers` online shopping experience and positions us to better serve them in the mobile future."

Using the GiftCard application on their iPhones, customers can browse brands and purchase and send physical or electronic gift cards with personalized messages using contacts from their iPhone address books. The GiftCards application also uses the iPhone`s GPS capabilities to show a retailer’s nearest store.

GiftCertificates.com offers a variety of gift cards in categories such as clothing, department stores, electronics, entertainment, health and beauty, home, kids and toys, jewelry, restaurants, shoes and accessories, specialty, sports, and travel.
