Signet Jewelers CEO announces retirement date

Signet Jewelers Ltd., which operates such jewelry e-commerce sites as Kay.com, Jared.com, hsamuel.co.uk and ernestjones.co.uk, announced that group CEO Terry Burman, 62, will retire in January 2011.

Signet Jewelers Ltd., which operates such jewelry e-commerce sites as Kay.com, Jared.com, hsamuel.co.uk and ernestjones.co.uk, has announced that group CEO Terry Burman, 62, will retire in January 2011.

 

Burman joined Signet in 1995 and was named CEO in 2000. Until 2006, Burman also was CEO of the retailer’s U.S. division. Before joining Signet, Burman was CEO of Barry’s Jewelers Inc.

Signet chairman Malcolm Williamson says the Signet board of directors will consider both internal and external candidates in filling his position. "I am delighted that Terry will continue to lead Signet for the next three holiday seasons,” Williamson says.

Signet Jewelers operates 1,973 stores, 1,414 in the U.S. and 559 in the United Kingdom.
