Online jeweler Bidz.com promotes chief technology officer to president

Online jewelry retailer Bidz.com Inc. has named Leon Kuperman president. He formerly was chief technology officer and vice president of business development. David Zinberg will remain as CEO.

Online jewelry retailer Bidz.com Inc., No. 74 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has named Leon Kuperman president. He formerly was chief technology officer and vice president of business development.

"I believe this is the right time to transition from my role as president, and I have the utmost confidence in Leon Kuperman," says David Zinberg, who remains CEO. “Leon has done a superb job over the past two years, and over the past 6 months has become increasingly involved in our investor relations activities as well. I look forward to focusing my energies more intently on purchasing and overseeing our key strategic initiatives as I continue to work closely with the management team to grow the business."

Kuperman has been chief technology officer since January 2007, when he joined Bidz.com from Truition, an e-commerce technology company which he co-founded in 1998. He began his career at IBM Canada, where he was instrumental in building the technical structure for Net.Commerce, the flagship product of IBM`s Internet division.
