Traffic to Zune jumps in September, Nielsen Online reports

When it came to traffic to top retail hardware manufacturer destinations for September, IBM’s traffic fell the most, dropping 18%, but Microsoft Corp.’s Zune web site, which sells digital music for the MP3 player, positively zoomed, Nielsen Online says.

When it came to traffic to retail hardware manufacturer destinations for September, IBM’s’s traffic fell the most of the top ten web sites, dropping 18%, but Microsoft Corp.’s Zune web site, which sells digital music for the portable music player, positively zoomed. It posted a 153% increase in traffic compared to a year earlier, according to Nielsen Online. The top 10 hardware manufacturer destinations in September with unique visitors in millions this year and last and growth from prior year, according to Nielsen Online were:

  • Apple Inc., 49.66, 44.29, 12%
  • Hewlett-Packard Development Company L.P., 21.26, 17.77, 20%
  • Dell Inc., 14.74, 14.98, -2%
  • Sun Microsystems Inc., 5.12, 3.47, 48%
  • Xbox, 2.75, 2.09, 31%
  • International Business Machines Corp., 2.18, 2.64, -18%
  • Gateway Inc., 2.14, 1.97, 9%
  • Nintendo, 1.55, 1.88, -17%
  • Zune, 1.28, .508, 153%
  • Logitech, 1.27, 1.06, 20%
Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top online shopping destinations based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer. By length of visit, the top 10 online hardware manufacturer shopping destinations in September (minutes:seconds), according to Nielsen Online, were:
