Newegg generates the fastest backbone response time

Analyzing availability and response time from the Internet’s distribution network, or backbone, is another way for retailers to monitor web site performance.

In September Newegg.com recorded a response time of 7.31 seconds to lead all Top 50 retailers, according to Gomez Inc.

Newegg.com was followed by JCPenney.com at 7.45 seconds, CircuitCity.com at 10.37 seconds, Apple.com at 11.30 seconds, Staples.com at 11.30 seconds, VictoriasSecret.com at 11.38 seconds, LLBean.com at 11.84 seconds, QVC at 12 seconds and BestBuy.com at 12.10 seconds.

Overall the 50 largest retail web sites had an average backbone response time of 15.63 seconds and an availability rating of 97.97%.
