In its second-largest acquisition, Amazon buys the company for $970 million.
Bulbs.com moves into what was formerly a factory to house growing operations and improve warehouse efficiency.
Bulbs.com is expanding – the company has announced plans to move from its present facility to a space in a newly renovated former factory building in its home town of Worchester, MA. Bulbs.com will be the largest tenant in the 205,000-square-foot facility.
The new space will house the light bulb and fixture retailer’s distribution center and offices to support the company’s growing order processing operation and commercial and residential customer support teams. “The most significant benefit to making this move will be the improvement in warehouse efficiency,” says Wendy Rose, vice president of operations. “Making the move from a multi-level warehouse to a modern single-story-high distribution center enables our logistics team to receive, store and ship inventory more effectively than ever. “
Bulbs.com, launched in 1999, is No. 418 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
