The Knot names a new chief financial officer

Chief financial officer Richard Szefc is stepping down this month at the wedding products e-retailer, which has appointed John Mueller to take Szefc’s place. Mueller previously was CFO at Genius Products.

The Knot Inc. has appointed John Mueller chief financial officer. Current CFO Richard Szefc will step down from the position after nine years with the company, remaining through the end of the month to ensure a smooth transition.

Mueller will oversee financial and accounting functions, as well as investor relations, at wedding products e-retailer The Knot, No. 332 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Mueller previously was CFO and executive vice president at Genius Products Inc., where he managed the transition with the company’s new partner, The Weinstein Co., assisted in the expansion of 15 content partners, and completed the acquisition of a direct response marketing company. Prior to Genius Products, Mueller was senior vice president of media investment banking at Jefferies & Co. Inc., where he provided strategic financial advisory services on mergers, acquisitions, and equity and debt offerings for entertainment and media clients.
