Apparel retailers set the bar for July web site performance

Shoppers with a high broadband connection in July could visit an apparel site in about 5.97 seconds, Gomez says, compared with mass merchants (6.07 seconds), computer/electronics retailers (6.58 seconds) and specialty merchants (6.80 seconds).

Shoppers with a high broadband connection in July could visit an apparel site in about 5.97 seconds, says Gomez Inc., compared with mass merchants (6.07 seconds), computer/electronics retailers (6.58 seconds) and specialty merchants (6.80 seconds).

When a site is accessed by a dial-up connection, apparel and accessories retailers provided the fastest average access at 51.69 seconds, Gomez says. The next fastest web retailing category was mass merchants at 52.12 seconds, followed by specialty retailers at 57.50 seconds.
