The Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition has been named one of the 50 fastest-growing trade shows by publisher Trade Show Week. IRCE received the recognition in the first year it was eligible for consideration. The award is based on growth from 2005 to 2007.
Trade Show Week’s fastest-growing list also recognized Shop.org’s Annual Summit. Shop.org is a unit of the National Retailer Federation. Trade Show Week also recognized the NRF’s Annual Convention & Expo.
“The fact that two e-retailing-related shows made the fastest-growing list is solid evidence of the important role that the Internet plays in today’s retailing industry and in this economy,” says Jack Love, president of Vertical Web Media, which owns IRCE.
The Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition grew from 1,100 attendees, 45 exhibitors and 10,000 square feet of exhibit space in 2005, its first year, to 4,100 attendees, 250 exhibitors and 93,000 square feet of exhibit space in 2007.
Love notes that IRCE continued to enjoy strong growth with the 2008 show, which hosted 5,200 attendees and 326 exhibitors in a 130,000-square-foot exhibit hall at McCormick Place West in Chicago. Audio-visual presentations from IRCE 2008 are available on CD-ROM. IRCE expects to apply for Trade Show Week’s fastest-growing award again next year.
Other shows related to the Internet that Trade Show Week recognized were two shows sponsored by the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association, the CTIA Wireless show and the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment show; and ad:tech San Francisco, a digital marketing show.
Trade Show Week says this year produced a record number of applications. It bases its award 50% on percentage growth from 2005 to 2007 and 50% on total net square footage of growth from 2005 to 2007. For this year’s awards, shows must have occurred in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
The Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition 2009 will be June 15-18 in Boston.
