Vanity apparel chain launches eVanity.com as retail e-commerce site

Vanity, a chain of more than 200 stores specializing in young women’s apparel, has launched eVanity.com as an e-commerce site.

Vanity, a chain of more than 200 stores specializing in young women’s apparel, has launched eVanity.com as an e-commerce site.

The site, built on a technology platform hosted by MarketLive Inc., went from concept to live e-commerce in 100 days under the vendor’s FastTrack development program, says Robert Schmelz, e-commerce general manager for eVanity. “The site was fully functional and reliable on the first day,” he says.

Features on eVanity include a home page presentation that shows moving images of five models, each wearing a separate outfit. Separate images of the outfits can be clicked for more details including price. The rich media on the home page was developed by Network Central Inc. and supported by content delivery network Akamai Technologies Inc.

The site also provides navigation features such as shopping by outfit and shopping by fashion trends.

The FastTrack program combines software, services and development methods in a single package, MarketLive says. It’s based on the MarketLive eCommerce Suite and includes marketing capabilities and web site design and technology integration services.
