J.C. Penney e-commerce executive John Irvin retires

John Irvin, president of J.C. Penney Direct and executive vice president of J.C. Penney Co. Inc., retired today, a J.C. Penney spokesman has confirmed. J.C. Penney Direct houses the retailer’s $1.5 billion Internet business.

John Irvin, president of J.C. Penney Direct and executive vice president of J.C. Penney Co. Inc., retired today, a J.C. Penney spokesperson has confirmed. J.C. Penney Direct houses the retailer’s $1.5 billion Internet business.

Irvin, 61, has been with J.C. Penney since 2001 and has worked in retail for more 35 years. Irvin’s duties will split between several teams throughout the company, the spokesman says, as the retailer streamlines management of its stores and direct businesses. Employees who reported to Irvin will now report to Mike Boylson, Penney’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

J.C. Penney, No. 15 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide ,reported total sales of $19.9 billion last year.
