As spring heats up, so does traffic to Lowe’s

As green thumbs get their lawns and gardens ready for the warm weather, it seems many are trekking to Lowes.com to find the products they need. 12.2 million shoppers visited Lowes.com in April according to Nielsen Online, up 42% from 2007.

As green thumbs get their lawns and gardens ready for the warm weather, it seems many are trekking to Lowes.com to find the products they need. 12.2 million shoppers visited Lowes.com in April according to Nielsen Online, up 42% from 2007. However, the spike wasn’t enough to beat out The Home Depot for traffic to home and garden retail web sites. It secured the No. 1 spot with 13.3 million unique visitors last month.

The top 9 online Home and Garden shopping destinations in April with unique visitors in millions this year and last and growth from prior year, according to Nielsen Online were:

  • The Home Depot, 13.30, 10.86, 23%
  • Lowe’s, 12.21, 8.62, 42%
  • eBay Home, 11.41, 13.06, -13%
  • Home Shopping Network, 3.69, 3.33, 11%
  • eBay Crafts, 2.90, 3.51, -17%
  • IKEA, 2.17, 1.85, 17%
  • Linens-N-Things, 1.87, 1.45, 28%
  • Northern Tool + Equipment, 1.84, 1.51, 21%
  • Jo-Ann.com, 1.75, .162, 8%

Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times the shopper visited. This is a custom list compiled by Internet Retailer of the top online shopping destinations based on Nielsen Online data. Rankings may contain multiple web sites from the same retailer or manufacturer.
